And\u2026 yeah. I didn\u2019t expect this.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I thought I was picking up a fantasy book.<br>You know\u2026 magic, weird creatures, maybe some adventure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Instead I got:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\ud83d\udc49 economics<br>\ud83d\udc49 psychology<br>\ud83d\udc49 bureaucracy<br>\ud83d\udc49 and a guy literally saving the world with confidence and good timing<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Moist von Lipwig isn\u2019t a hero.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He\u2019s a <strong>well-dressed workaround<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And somehow that\u2019s exactly what the system needed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What I liked most?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That everything is a bit absurd\u2026<br>but also uncomfortably accurate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mail works because people believe it works.<br>Money works because people believe it works.<br>Authority works because people\u2026 well, you get the pattern.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And then there\u2019s the humor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not loud jokes.<br>More like:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\ud83d\udc49 quiet smirks<br>\ud83d\udc49 clever lines<br>\ud83d\udc49 moments where you stop and go \u201cwait\u2026 that\u2019s actually true\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Will I read more Pratchett?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yeah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Because if this is what book one feels like\u2026<br>there\u2019s probably a lot more hidden in the rest.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Terry Pratchett Going postal &#8211; Short summary: \u201cA con man fixes a broken system by pretending it isn\u2019t broken\u2026until it actually isn\u2019t.\u201d My first Pratchett.
