Don’t Fall In Love With Ideas – My 27th card

Don’t Fall In Love With Ideas My 27th card
This card basically says:
“Congratulations. You didn’t fall in love with a person, ideology, or nation this time — only with your own catastrophic genius plan.”
The dangerous thing about ideas is that they rarely arrive wearing villain costumes. Usually they arrive looking intelligent, noble, and emotionally very convincing right before they ruin your entire week.

This card feels strangely connected to The Buried Giant.
Almost every major character is in love with an idea:

Gawain loves the idea that peace is worth any silence.
Wistan loves the idea that truth and memory must return no matter the cost.
Even Axl and Beatrice are partly in love with the idea of their own shared past.

And the frightening part is that nobody fully sees what their idea is costing them while they still protect it.

I also like the uncomfortable sentence:

“One of life’s great pleasures is letting go of a previously cherished idea.”

Because intellectually it sounds wise and freeing.
Emotionally it sounds almost impossible.

Humans do not only live inside countries, religions, or relationships.
We live inside internal stories about what things mean.

Sometimes those stories protect us.
Sometimes they quietly become our mist.
