Substitute – My thirteenth card
This card actually fits Don Quixote surprisingly well.
He constantly substitutes reality with imagination:
inns become castles,
barbers become knights,
ordinary women become princesses.
Sometimes it makes him ridiculous.
Sometimes strangely wise.
And maybe that’s why the book still works:
human beings survive not only through strength, but through the ability to reinterpret the world when reality is too small for the dream.
